Heart of Texas Music Festival

Heart of Texas Music Festival

I headed to Brady on Thursday morning for the 35th Annual Heart of Texas Music Festival. Pepper and I were the first of our group to get to the campground and get set up. Friends showed up later and we went to the Civic Center for 3 days of dancing. We checked out area RV parks and took a drive to Mason. I had TWO blowouts on the camper on the way home. That makes THREE blowouts in the month since I picked the camper up from service at the dealership. The tires were all overinflated. Don't do that folks!🤬

Small RV park and most sites are in full sun with Mesquite trees. I lucked out and got the big pull-through spot with the large Live Oak for shade. The road through the park is caliche so a little dusty. Some people live here full time. Several good restaurants in the area. You can see the Golden Arches over the treeline, but there are better options. Locals said to try Mac's BBQ, Sandy's, Boondocks Seafood, Mi Familia or Mexico City. I hear this park was really run-down, but the new owner has tried to fix it up some over the past couple of years. Some road noise but not bad. Once inside with the AC going, you don't even hear it.

This park is only a few minutes from the Ed Davenport Civic Center. The Event Center had a fish fry on Friday night, but we had all the fixin's of a Taco Bar, so our group ate in the campground.

✅ What I did: Danced! Hung out with friends. Deployed a Munzee.

👀 What I saw: Nice hills on the way to Brady

🐦 Wildlife I encountered: Bell's Vireo, House Finch, Cardinals, White-winged doves, Titmice, deer

📚 What I learned: The owner of the RV park is fixing it up little-by-little and making it nicer than it was. My site was great. Most of the other sites were in full sun.

 🤣 A laughable moment: Bobby Whitton's Mustang Sally 💃🏻

😮 A surprising moment: Mornings were cool and a nice breeze - and low humidity!

🙃 An unforeseeable moment:  TWO blowouts on the way home. 40 miles from home within 17 miles of each other!! 😲 God bless the Zavodny's!

Outside the Park:

👢 Where I danced: Ed Davenport Civic Center

🎻 Music by Brady Honeycutt, Rocky King, Landon Dodd, Jody Nix, Justin Trevino and George Dearborne

🍽 Where I ate: In Brady: Sandy's - really good breakfasts. Other menu items looked good too, Mi Pueblo 2, Chicken Express

👀 Drove through local RV parks in Brady and one on the Llano River in Mason for future reference for upcoming group trips

🎂 Happy 70th birthday Linda Houdec! 🥳
