I usually take a Fall trip to the Texas Hill Country and this year, I headed to the east-northern section of it. My first stop was to the Guadalupe River just south of Canyon Lake to meet up with some full-time RVer friends who are passing through the Lone Star State. Some of them are fellow Someday Crew members. The campground is MUCH nicer at this time of year and more relaxing. In the summertime, you can literally walk across the river on all the river tubes! It was nice to hang out at the campground and walk along the river. We could hear bats under the bridge north of the campground, but didn’t get a glimpse of them. I did get to the release of lots of big trout into the Guadalupe. What a treat!

Notes:
The next row over where Eva & TC were (away from the river) had no concrete under their table. Coming soon to that row - they're improving the park continually. It was foggy the day I left and it hung around the top of the hills which was kinda cool. The fire “rings” were square and made of concrete so we could have a small fire. Quite a few Winter Texans here. Package deliveries are allowed. Park staff is friendly and maintenance is Johnny-on-the-spot.
Weather ☀️๐ซ️ ๐๐ฌ️ Cool in the mornings, but warmed up a little in the day. Light Jacket weather. Foggy the morning I left.

๐๐๐ Highlights of this trip๐๐๐
๐ฉ๐ป๐จ๐ปWho I went with: Alone, but met up with friends
Yes, I know. I'm a fashion statement! |
✅ What I did: Relaxed, had a few adult beverages, browsed in the store, brunch and dinner
๐ถ๐ป♀️Trails I walked: Not a specific trail, but walked along the river. I forgot to turn on All Trails until over ½ way on the trip out, but got over 2 miles after that. ๐คฆ๐ป♀️
๐ What I saw: Release of trout into the river, full moon
๐ฆ Wildlife I encountered: Deer, Grey Foxes, Raccoons, Turkeys, Squirrels (keep an eye out on the windy small road)
๐ What I learned: Site #34 in the corner by Devil’s Playground would be a good site for me. (A little short for motorhomes)
๐คฃ A laughable moment: Hearing Navy stories from friends
๐ฎ A surprising moment: Trout in the Guadalupe. Who woulda thunk it?
๐️ My favorite souvenir: Photos, sticker for my log book, necklace
Outside the Park
๐ฝ️Where I ate: Breakaway Brewing Company in San Antonio with more of the Someday Crew. Caught a ride with Cory & Marnie and got to tour their house.
๐ Stops along the way: Shell in Maxwell (Hwy 21 at FM 150). Clean restrooms, coffee, pastries, hot foods, groceries. Like a TINY Buc-ee’s. It’s a good stop for me on trips out west. Valero in Marble Falls on the way to Inks Lake (Leg #2 of this Hill Country trip).. Reward points!
๐ขWhere I danced: Nowhere on this trip.
